Happy Birthday! Bruce Campbell Turns 58 Years Old

Today is Bruce Campbell's birthday.

Often referred to as the king of cult movies, Campbell has been a sensation to genre and sci-fi fans for much of his acting career. His most recognizable role is Ash Williams from Sam Raimi's Army of Darkness and Evil Dead films, where he played a fast-talking, chainsaw-wielding hero. He will reprise the role when the second season of his fan-favorite series Ash Vs. The Evil Dead comes to television later this year.

Campbell's other memorable roles include Sam Axe from television series Burn Notice (and its spinoff movie, which centered on Campbell's character), Uncle Phil from TV series The Replacements, and Autolycus from Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. He also held memorable cameos in all three of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man films.

Of course, no bio of Campbell is complete without mentioning The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. Campbell headlined the series, in which Campbell played the title character, a Harvard-educated lawyer-turned-bounty hunter hired by a group of wealthy industrialists to track and capture outlaw John Bly and his gang. The series, which ran for 27 episodes in 1993 and 1994, is one of those TV shows that is often mentioned in the same breath as Firefly and Arrested Development, in terms of the sheer injustice of its early cancellation.

...And don't even get me started on Bubba Ho-Tep or The Hudsucker Proxy, in which Campbell had important roles. Seriously, we'd be here all day.
