A year ago, Toby Kebbell was preparing for a press tour, and hoping for his role in Fantastic Four as the iconic villain Doctor Victor Von Doom would be the start of a franchise. Unfortunately, the Josh Trank-directed film, frankly, bombed. With a lifetime gross of $56 million domestic and $168 million total worldwide, it was a write-off film for 20th Century Fox, who put $120 million into the budget, plus marketing (and remember, the gross is just that - full ticket price taken in by theaters; it's not what goes back to the actual production).

Interestingly, Kebbell backs up a tweet that the embattled Trank made and deleted after catching heat for it, telling TheDailyBeast, "I tell you, the honest truth is [Trank] did cut a great film that you'll never see. That is a shame. A much darker version, and you'll never see it."

The actor enjoyed playing Doctor Doom, but questioned how the character was portrayed in the film.

"Unfortunately, I played Doom in three points: Walking down a corridor, killing the doctor and getting into the time machine, and lying on the bench. They were the only times I played Doom. Everything else was some other guy, on some other day… doing some other thing. I was infuriated that he was allowed to limp like that!" Kebbell said. His transformation, for example, was cut entirely from the film.

Kebbell can next be seen in Warcraft as an Orc chieftan. Unfortunately, that film isn't being treated much better by critics, though it has at this point doubled Fantastic Four's Rotten Tomatoes rating of 9%.
