Aquaman Movie Wont' Be Very Dark According To Director James Wan

Of all the upcoming DC properties, the biggest question mark is James Wan's Aquaman film.

It has the most potential to dazzle, yet has the biggest opportunity to outright fail. Wan is a capable director, however, and personally, the film is the one I'm most looking forward to.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly(via Outerplaces.com) Wan sought to assuage fans that Aquaman won't be following in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice's darker tone footsteps and said: "It won't be very dark...It is at the bottom of the ocean, so I'll use a lot of light!"

At one point it seemed that Warner Bros. was reshuffling all of its spinoff projects after BVS didn't set the world on fire box office wise, but Wan remains the head of the Aquaman ship. Even though his film will be lighter in tone, he still has a great relationship with BVS Director Zack Snyder (via CinemaBlend), saying that: "Well, I think the story that I would like to tell is still at the end of the day my story. And that's what's cool with Zack, is that he's actually very respectful of that. He's actually helping me out in some ways with certain things that he's doing with his [films] so that I can have better groundwork with the standalone Aquaman story."

If the reaction to BVS is any indicator, going with a lighter touch on Aquaman is the best way to go. It should be akin to something like Thor, where the film set up not only the main character but the kingdom in which he lives, as well as the lore that is contained in every crevice of a place like Atlantis.
