Look, no one is naming their baby Melisandre or Aerys, but names inspired by pop culture have hit it big in Scotland, with several coming from The Avengers and Game of Thrones, or at least enough to make note. The list of forenames in Scotland from 2015 indicates there are some bigtime geeks making babies north of England.

That list includes 6 Loki babies (but only one Thor), 47 children with the name Arya (Maisie, like the actress who plays the character, had 126), and, horrifyingly, 7 Ramsays. Eddard, Brienne, Catelyn, and Theon also made the list.

Other pop culture had its due as well. Thorin (The Hobbit) was the name of five children in Scotland last year, with an additional Thoren that may count there. There were two Eowyn girls, too. A Tien was born to parents who may have been big Dragon Ball Z fans. An Epona was probably born to a Zelda fan. One Morrigan was born, though we can't be certain they're hoping for a great queen of fate - several other names that are probably just coincidentally connected to the Dragon Age games made the list, too, but that's more likely because the series uses names that were once common to the region. Three Primroses showed The Hunger Games hasn't lost its sway just yet. 15 Talias and 3 Thalias probably have nothing to do with the al Ghul family, but just in case...

Sophie, with 468, was the girls leader, while Jack led for boys with 565. Oliver would eclipse that, though, if you count Ollie, too - 448 for the full name and 150 for the nickname. And to the boy growing up with the actual name "Sonnyboy," we're sorry; to the 316 Lucas babies, though, congratulations.
