Christian Bale's portrayal of Batman is widely revered as one of, if not the best portrayal of the Caped Crusader in cinematic history. Bale doesn't necessarily share the same views as audiences.

While promoting his new film, Knights of Cups, Bale opened up about the role and shared some perspective on his performance that we haven't heard before.

"I found when I put on the suit I just feel like a bloody idiot if I don't use this as a means of kind of it's his true monstrous self that he allows to come out in that moment," Bale says of the Batsuit. Things changed when Heath Ledger's Joker showed up. "Heath turned up, and just kind of completely ruined all my plans," Bale said. "Because I went, 'He's so much more interesting than me and what I'm doing.'"

While not super specific, Bale admits he isn't totally satisfied with his time in the Batcave. "I sort of go, I didn't quite manage what I hoped I would through the trilogy," Bale laments. It's not enough to bring him back, though. He's okay with hanging up the cape for good, saying, "Enough's enough. We did our thing, it's done."
