The Dark Tower is getting ready for production at Sony Pictures, and director Nikolaj Arcel has another way to talk about it. According to production notices (which revealed quite a bit), we now know the working title of the first movie based off Stephen King's seminal novel series is "The Diamond City."

As far as a working title goes, that one is fairly baffling. It doesn't seem to refer directly to any city found throughout the story. There's an old 1949 British film by that name, about a diamond mining town in South Africa, but that's the only direct reference.

We still don't know, after all, exactly what this story is going to be. You'd assume they're going based solely on the first novel, The Gunslinger, and hoping to draw the film series out to cover all 7 main chapters, but that may not be the case. The casting so far throws a wrench into things, when Abbey Lee was reportedly (not confirmed) cast as Tirana, an extremely minor character from much later in the series.

Regardless, "The Diamond City" is ramping up production for a release next January, with Idris Elba as Roland, the last Gunslinger, and Matthew McConaughey as The Man in Black.
