According to The Hollywood Reporter, DreamWorks Animation has chosen Kate Hudson (Almost Famous) to replace Rebel Wilson (Pitch Perfect) in Kung Fu Panda 3.

Wilson was set to voice Mei Mei, an overeager female panda that is infatuated with Po (voiced by Jack Black), who is freaked out by her romantic interest. Besides eyeing Po, Mei Mei likes to think of herself as a gifted ribbon dancer. She's not.

Why was she replaced? An inside source for The Hollywood Reporter claim the film's "production schedule became extended, forcing Wilson to bow out."

Now that Hudson is voicing Mei Mei animators will have to go back in an alter the character's performance "to reflect Hudson's take on the character."

When Po's long-lost panda father suddenly reappears, the reunited duo travels to a secret panda paradise to meet scores of hilarious new panda characters. But when the supernatural villain Kai begins to sweep across China defeating all the kung fu masters, Po must do the impossible—learn to train a village full of his fun-loving, clumsy brethren to become the ultimate band of Kung Fu Pandas!

Kung Fu Panda 3 will be released in theaters on January 29, 2016.
