It shouldn't surprise anyone that three of the biggest franchise films in the world topped the social media buzz rolling out of this weekend's Comic-Con International: San Diego.

Those would be The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Apparently, audiences just can't get enough of movies with colons in the title.

This all comes from Twitter's official blog, one of the few places where the social media doesn't limit the discourse to whatever you can squeeze into 140 characters.

With a lot of hugely-anticipated movies coming out in 2016, it's interesting to note that two of the top three trending topics out of Comic Con were movies coming out at the end of this year (Hunger Games in November and Star Wars in December). Even Batman V Superman will be in theaters in March, meaning that nine months from now, all three of these films will be in the rear-view mirror.

Of course, Suicide Squad (August 2016) and Justice League (2017) rounded out the top five, so it's not like there's no enthusiasm for what's coming further on up the road.

The absence of Marvel's movie side may have dampened enthusiasm for their TV products somewhat, too; of the top five TV series tweeted about during the con, three of them air on The CW, with DC Entertainment's Arrow coming in at #2, bolstered by the revelation that Oliver Queen will be Green Arrow soon, and the reveal of his new costume.

Once Upon a Time led the TV pack, followed by Arrow, Supernatural, Teen Wolf, and The Vampire Diaries.

The weekend's biggest peak in Twitter traffic seemingly came during the Warner Bros. film panel, which featured Batman V Superman and Suicide Squad trailers and tied into overall DC movie news.
