Slither

If you're one of the many whose first experience with filmmaker James Gunn was on Guardians of the Galaxy last year, tonight is an ideal opportunity to get a little history lesson.

Syfy is screening Gunn's breakthrough feature Slither tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT -- a little less than an hour from now -- in most markets.

Slither, Gunn's 2006 directorial debut, starred future Guardians actors Gregg Henry (The Killing), Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) and Nathan Fillion (Firefly) as well as Elizabeth Banks (Zack and Miri Make a Porno).

You can see the trailer and synopsis below.

A meteorite housing a malevolent, sentient extraterrestrial parasite crashes into the town of Wheelsy, South Carolina. While frolicking in the woods with Brenda, local car dealer Grant Grant finds the parasite and is infected by it. The parasite takes over his body and absorbs his consciousness and memories. With the alien now in control of his body, 'Grant' begins to slowly change into a tentacled slug-like monster.
