Because there is no such thing a "enough is enough" in Hollywood, Lionsgate is considering extendedThe Hunger Games film franchise with prequels and sequels that go beyond the scope of Suzanne Collins' original YA novel trilogy.

According to Deadline, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer told analysts he's "actively looking at some development and thinking about prequel and sequel possibilities."

The studio has already managed to stretch the trilogy of books in a quadrilogy of movies by splitting the final installment, Mockingjay, in two.

There were no further details about what the prequel and sequel plans might entail, but it's easy to imagine a prequel based on any of the annual Hunger Games events that took place in Panem prior to the events of The Hunger Games novel, or perhaps about the civil war that led to their creation.

It's a little harder to imagine what the sequel would entail, given that an epilogue to the original books shows that, 20 years later, The Hunger Games are no more and most of the surviving characters are living happily ever after.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 will be released in theaters November 20.
