Viola Davis, who is expected to play Amanda Waller in the upcoming Suicide Squad movie, took home the Favorite Actress in a New TV Series trophy at tonight's People's Choice Awards.

The award comes for her work on the ABC drama How to Get Away With Murder.

Earlier today, she was quoted as saying that she isn't yet signed for Suicide Squad, as has been widely reported, but that she remains in talks and is trying to work out her schedule for the part.

"I'm fascinated by [Amanda Waller]," Davis said. "I'm fascinated by her in this world of superhero-ness because she is not a woman that you would expect. I think that she is a massive contradiction, She's this big powerful black woman, hard, ready to pick up a gun and shoot anyone at will. I'm fascinated in exploring her psychology, just put it that way. And I'm excited to pick up a gun."

The People's Choice Awards is an awards show wherein fans vote for the nominees, categories and the winners. It's also the first awards show of the year, which means a number of the winners will be taking the stage for the first of many times out between now and the Academy Awards.
