Court Grants Marvel Subpoena Request To Probe Google

Fighting to preserve the secrets of their franchise with the fervor to rival S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel and parent-company Disney were granted their subpoena request for Google to turn over all information regarding the party responsible for leaking the trailer of the highly anticipated Marvel Avengers: Age of Ultron, Deadline reports.

""YOU ARE COMMANDED to produce at the time, date, and place set forth below the following documents, electronically stored information, or objects, and to permit inspection, copying, testing, or sampling of the material," Google was informed in the subpoena.

Google has to bring to court "all identifying information for the user 'John Gazelle' " on November 18 in San Francisco, according to legal documents.

This isn't the first time that a movie studio has pursued the source of an online leak. This summer Lionsgate took legal action against several tech companies after its Expendables 3 film emerged online during Comic-Con.

Regarding Age of Ultron, Marvel and Disney want the IP address which the entitled 'ap-tlr-l_int_360p.mp4' was uploaded to the Google Drive Site" and everything else they can get on the suspect identified as "John Gazelle."

After the leak, Marvel dropped the official version of the trailer the same day — days ahead of its schedule debut.
